The writer attended 48th Subsidiary Bodies Meetings of United Nations Framework of Climate Change Conventions.

My trip to Bangkok was hilarious and quite chilling for him but this story does not focus on pre departure to Bangkok, but more on what happened in Bangkok especially a day after arrival in the Don Meuang Airport. With a luggage weight of 14.6 kg and a traveler bag weighing 8 kg, the writer spent his luxury time watching the scenery around Bangkok while riding a grab.

I came into Zee Thai Hostel with a bit of disappointment and excitement I was disappointed because of the cancelation of Agoda booking and had to pay to receptionist but the exciting part was that the hostel is clean, comfy and suitable for my working style.

United Nations Convention Centre (UNCC) and United Nations Economic and Social Commision of Asia Pacific (UN ESCAP), Bangkok.

3 September 2018 — The writer and the group of MYD went to United Nations Convention Centre (UNCC), Bangkok to get their badge from the registration counter. It was surprising the convention centre was smaller than what we saw Google. We were at the back of UNCC, it was United Nations Commissions on Human Rights (UNCHR). We headed straight and entered the famous green rooftop building to get the badges.

The writer decided to follow another team on attending the International Youth Climate Movement (YOUNGO) Youth Preparatory and Strategy Session for 48th Session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB-48). The session is more on beginner side to negotiation session; it is good for me as well, to understand what kind of things that I’m involved to after this and what kind of expectation can I get throughout the conference.

The things getting interested when Jonas Haller, one of the BLT Member of YOUNGO talk about the structure on SBSTA, SBI and APA and what we can do as a member of YOUNGO for this session. We end up create the draft and intervention on SBSTA, SBI and APA on behalf of YOUNGO. The writer volunteered for facilitate SBI’s Chair Briefing point and question for Co-Chair of SBI later on 5th September 2018. Llhavanya volunteered to facilitate SBSTA paper as well, Mike help him on agenda item 15, article 5 on qualitative and quantitative of the also Aaliyah helping out on drafting question to UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Ms. Patricia Espinosa.

Most of the focus in this SBI draft paper are finance and financial mechanism that related to SBI and SBSTA since the writer knowing much about climate finance and its architecture and managed to investigate all those related to budgetary and administrative proportion. At the same time, the writer feels like this year intersession meetings mostly focus on finance due to collapse or failing of climate finance architecture.

At the end of the day, the writer reflect himself on the manner of embrace this huge responsibility as this is his first international session meetings with YOUNGO however for the benefit of youth, the writer will create a good question given to Co-Chair to address this thing prior to 24th Conference of Parties in Katowice, Poland.

The writer hoping tomorrow will be a good day indeed for finance and works related to finance especially on Agenda Item 15, 12 and 13 as well as Article 6.
